Why does the Avatara not start his teachings once he has taken birth? The incarnation, coming from this vastness and embodying himself in this little body, he, too, has to open himself up. He, too, has to know who he is. He also has to take a bath after travelling through all these dust storms of the universe. And then, the moment comes when he knows who he is, and his mission begins.
El Avatara
From time to time, when imbalances occur, then a great force descends to earth to bring about a balance. That is what the Bhagavad Gita says. The Avatara is forever the eternal wanderer. He might live here on Earth, but in the concept of time, he lives but a moment here and does what has to be done. Great teachers have come to Earth to give their teachings to suit the times. And those teachings are eternal.

The guru only lights the path. He does not light you. The guru does not shed the light upon you; he sheds the light upon the path. You have to do the walking. The guru cannot walk for you because then you will be standing still.

You cannot be totally desireless, but even the desire that would be there would have some foundation, some form of logic. Those desires would be for your needs and not your wants—there is a significant difference.

It’s a two-way process, and that makes it simpler.
